When Serena Colavita visited us in August of 2018, we held a lunch for her and Marco at the beautiful new Sheraton San Gabriel. Serena was interviewed by Trash Lassie Stacy Nelson, had a fabulous tour of the new hotel by Carmen Choy-Surdam and had a breakout session about Italian style weddings with Serena, Maria Elena, Elisabetta and Agata.
It was a wonderful visit and lunch! We also arranged for Serena to visit the Paul Mitchell Studio in Pasadena for a behind-the-scenes look at the hair, make up and wedding gowns of a traditional Japanese wedding (see collage). |

A romantic wedding rainy day at Como Lake
A romantic wedding rainy day at Como Lake
Do you know Como Lake? It's a stunning place in Northern Italy, famous all over the world for the unforgettable views of its majestic mountains with their valleys running through them. The water of this lake is deep and clear and its color is very special because of the mountains that surround it: from light green to dark green and blue! The villages along the lakes shores are very picturesque and many international celebrities have their home here. This very special place, that attracts visitors in any season from all over the world, is the magic frame of Oxana and Jan's wedding day....
When a place is wonderful and when love is in the air even a rainy day becomes a magic moment!
My special couple of bride & groom are from Russia and Germany; they love very much Italy and they want to tie the knot at Como Lake!
The wedding day begins with a soft rain so we decided to organize the wedding ceremony by the pool, under a comfortable roof, instead of the garden under the trees...the result is an intimate and romantic marriage, different from what we have thought but however very nice!
To welcome the guests I prepared an elegant sweet table with Italian specialities such as Italian confetti with almonds sugared and lemon biscuits.
After saying their special YES for the life the lovely foreign couple visited some nice places and villas of the lake such as Villa Balbianello, built at the beginning of the el XVIII Century, it was a favorite meeting point for highbrow elite and Italian Renaissance artists; thanks to its charming beauty it is used as a setting in many famous movies. Varenna and Bellagio two picturesque and lovely small town by the lake with their coloured houses and narrow streets.
In the evening they had an intimate and elegant wedding dinner, with an italian menu ( focaccia, mozzarella, crouton with caprino cheese and black olives, seasoned pecorino; Gratiné crêpes with ham, fontina cheese, tomato and heavy cream; Asparagus risotto with Taleggio cheese and butter; Slice of wild salmon on creamy potatoes and vegetables purée; Sirloin steak cooked with Traminer wine and season vegetables; Chocolate cake and italian wines selection) on a terrace with a spectacular view on Como Lake...and although the rain we had an unforgettable and very romantic wedding day !

ROMANTIC AND SO SHABBY CHIC! Wedding in Italy
With this new article I want to tell you about my last wedding fair project : a wedding shabby chic concept. To realize this amazing and so romantic concept I used - you can see in the pictures - pastel colours and white! I like to offer to my bride and groom something really original and unique so I made several jars -handmade - decorated with italian cotton lace; I put inside them delicate white flowers. We produced large letters for writing words and sentences about marriage. For the guests I created an original wedding Table Plan with coloured ballons: each balloon corresponds to a table and has a name ( Fortune, Love, Passion......) ; on each balloon you can find the list of the persons that are sitting at that table In my stand you could see also an original and romantic old wodden Candy Cart - handmade in Italy - an idea for the wedding sweet corner! White wooden signs are hanging on a wooden fence decorated with flowers and bottles I set up a table very romantic for the "Confettata" ( an italian tradition) : lace, tulle and handmade decorations; beautiful glass jars where I put the famous Italian confetti ( sugared almonds, the most famous are from Sicily) Event&Wedding Planner : Serena Colavita of Italian Style Event&Wedding |

WEDDING PLANNER...EXPERT IN LOVE!
Guest at the book presentation "BAGNO D'AMORE" ( Bath of Love) As Wedding Planner, as Love Expert ( waw!) I was recently invited to attend the Press Conference of the presentation of a very special book "BAGNO D'AMORE" (Bath of Love) written by the italian journalist Paolo Mancini with the foreword by the journalist - a dear friend of mine - Isa Grassano. It was a funny experience! I told funny stories - but true stories - about brides and groom, mothers in law, wedding and Love! I think this book will be a good therapy for all couples: older couples, I know, have been able to face life with irony to overcome difficult moments... During the Press Conference I set up a special pink&black sweet buffet: two colors that represent the two sides of love, sugar and pepper! Both useful in a couple life...We created original big heart shape lollipop with the press of the book cover: an original gadget for guests About the book....To the bathroom, you know, women go to one side and men on the other. This is the rule that public females and males respect around the world at the time of their needs. But among the basic needs of the people there is also love. And even in love, as the toilet, if she goes to the left, he goes right: after all, the "metabolism sentimental" women and men have direction, speed and mode very different and distinct. That's why in BAGNO D'AMORE (Bath of Love), collection of 365 cartoons by irony and fun cynicism, the protagonists Wilma & Chucky are represented as the two symbols that, universally, at the entrance of the public toilets we indicate the right path to the right door, that of the "women" and that of "men": the initials of their names, in fact, make up the word "toilet". And it is through the "couple WC" which is depicted the clash between the universe pink and blue one. The couple tests itself with the love, passion, engagement, marriage, lovers, cohabitation, Christmas, New Year, Valentine, Women's Day, the mothers-in-law, children, gifts, holidays, work, sex, lies and everything that can ... "hinder". "The Love duel" between males and females is summarized in the infinite series of corrosive Wilma & Chucky questions and answers as "tit for tat"; woman and man, "destined to be always together but without looking really to each other". Because if men were really created to stay with women (or the ladies had been designed to live in harmony with their riders), we would not always have, worldwide, separate toilets! The book is a marathon of readings-flash, for immediate laugh but also for a "one day" reflection. Because each quip, even in parody of love, reveals pearls of wisdom and a dash (but just a hint ...) of romance. The strength of a relationship can be seen in the..."time of need"... The book is also a true story of passion between two guys who leave funny messages on the walls of the bath in a stream of thoughts, gags and surprises from the first page with a twist ending that leaves everyone speechless. SOMETHING OLD AND ....BEAUTIFULLY ROMANTIC
Wedding in Italy & Italian Vintage Style With this new article I want to tell you about my last wedding fair project inside a location on the famous Como Lake I'd like to explain you how the concept is borned showing you my creative ideas: the mood is the vintage Italian style To realize this amazing concept I had to find real vintage items such as a beautiful small chest of drawers that I had to clean and update; you could find this original item in the old Italian haberdashery of the last century! In the past the drawers contained sewing cotton: each drawer kept a color. To realize my wedding set up I usually do a lot of research. I like to offer to my bride and groom something really original and unique. I love to find old and vintage items: they have a very special "taste". In my stand you could see also an original and romantic old tandem bike 40s, old brass candelabra and old chairs of the 30s: all items are made in Italy I used the two wooden chairs with flowers in relief for the bride&groom wedding dinner table; on the table you can see colored glasses inspired by the Renaissance and precious cutlery and used a small old suitcase - original 50s - to complete the romantic setting: inside I put a silk pillow with roses, an handmade heart realized with rope and a wooden sign with the words "Just Married" Flowers are very important, but you don't need a lot of them: elegant roses and ivy completed the romantic setting.
