Getting married in Italy ...the romantic wedding of Noemi & Paolo
Italy has a lot of historical and amazing small towns where you can decide to get married, Noemi and Paolo said their "yes" for the life in a gorgeous church set in the countryside in Jesi, Marche region in the centre of Italy.
Jesi has very old origins. The legend says that it was founded by Esio, the king of Pelasgians, whereas it is known that it was a Roman colony since 247 B.C. The urban centre is surrounded by defence walls built between the 1st century B.C and the 1st century A.D, probably according to the same scheme of the present-day walls of medieval origin; they represent a meaningful example of the medieval defence system, with six gates, keeps and curtain walls with brackets.
Since the second half of the 15th century the architectural face of the town changed deeply with the construction of new churches and palaces and the progressive urban expansion outside the old walls. In the Baroque period the town continued to expand despite recurrent famines and pestilences. The walls were extended, including new quarters and new churches were built. During the 18th century the most important noble families of Jesi embellished their houses or built them from scratch on the basis of the new building criteria of functionality and decoration.
In a gentle hill landscape where the man's action is shown by the geometry of the fields under crop, the neat vegetable gardens and the isolated farmhouses, the villages around Jesi, called “Castelli di Jesi” (Castles of Jesi) stand out because of the towered profile of their walls, which protect an incredible collection of works of art. Every church and every palace retains the traces of a noble pastbeauty of the places, where the beauty of the places matches with the sweetness of living.
The wedding reception was done in a small picturesque location by the sea; Jesi is just a few kilometers from the sea.
A wedding day in typical Italian style with fine local wine (Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, a straw-coloured white wine with a delicate aroma) and good local food and sweets (for example: Lonza di fico, a dried fig cake, with walnuts, almonds and a sweet, boiled grape-must syrup called sapa; Cavallucci, biscuits filled with a mince of dried fruit and nuts, cocoa, sapa, Rum or Marsala; Cakes and buiscuits made with must)
A very romantic wedding with elegant simplicity, as you can see in the pictures!
As wedding favors guests received very nice italian and handpainted ceramic cup for tea; the bride has chosen a polished design.
Within the cup, on the tea bag the handwritten names of the couple.
After the wedding party the bride and groom, just like in fairy tales, spent their first wedding night in the suite of a magnificent castle...
and they lived happily ever after ...
