Jeanette Johnson...Designer
I began to sew and design at the age of 14. Fabrics and trims and buttons and bows were fascinating to me and I became obsessed with finding fabric stores wherever I went!
I began dressmaking in my 30”s doing lots of pink taffeta bridesmaids dresses popular in the 80's. But my desire was to be able to create the dream wedding gown for every bride I met! The creativity and endless possibilities are where my heart is happy.
I do all of the designing and construction myself and am with the bride from the moment she walks in my front door until she walks down the aisle! Each gown is one of a kind; made with love…

2018 Vow Renewal... of Designer Jeanette Johnson
Last year our daughter got married just after our 35th anniversary. She had suggested maybe we could do a vow renewal during their wedding. After thinking about it, we decided not to infringe on their special day. So, this year we thought, well, why not!! So, we celebrated 36 years of a relationship that, like most, has had it's ups and downs, but through it all, we are still madly in love.
Our little ceremony was held in the wedding venue that we designed and built for our daughter's wedding the year before. But, instead of having 200 people to share our special day, we chose to have just 6 of our kids for a more intimate gathering. So, our 60' x 90' venue was turned into 'venue lite!' We draped white shear fabric over the center beams and down each of the four posts making for a perfect intimate setting. Overhead was the chandelier I had made for my daughter's wedding. I added greens from our orange tree and red bottle brush. Over the front and back arch was a spray of greens gathered from the yard and bright pink bougainvillea and tiny white flowers. My aisle runner was ivory lace, just like my daughter's aisle. Our hand made bar was draped with a lace table cloth and held the wine, champagne and hors d' oeuvres. We had a couch and end tables with our wedding album and photos of the kids weddings.
While the photographer gathered little I groups, the kids shared wine and hors d'oeuvres. The color of the day was black and red. Not for mood, but for elegance! My husband wore a black jacket over jeans with his cowboy boots and hat. I made him an ivory brocade vest that he wore over an ivory shirt and had a red boutonniere He looked even more handsome than he did 36 years ago!
I designed my gown with an ivory/gold lace over an off white lining. It was a strapless, sweetheart neck bodice with a full circle skirt. The chapel length train was edged with an 8' wide lace scallop. It featured an off the shoulder lace drape, following the sweetheart neckline. The drape had just a touch of sparkle as did my wide lace belt. I carried bouquet of ivories and greens, designed by Amanda Claverie of Rosebud Floral Design.
My daughter's gown was a black duchess satin mermaid style skirt with a black sequin, strapless sweetheart neck bodice, finished with a velvet sash. Her shoes were a satin print of red and pink flowers, so she wore a hot pink petticoat and carried a red rose bouquet.
My 12 year old grandson walked me down the aisle in a vest matching grandpa's and his ivory shirt and jeans and boots. He was so handsome!!! We walked down the aisle to “Look At Us” by Vince Gill. As I turned the corner and saw my husband, we both began to cry!
The ceremony was lead by our youngest daughter and she shared lots of memories and had many stories to tell! Next my husband and I read our personal vows to each other and we both cried. Our daughter led us in traditional vows and we shared a kiss.
After our vows, we both spoke to our children; me to our daughters and he to our sons. We gave advice on being wives and husbands, mothers and fathers whether they were married 29 years as our oldest are or 14 as the middle daughter or not quite a year as our youngest. We told them how proud we were of each of them and blessed them from our hearts. We all cried. We then surprised them and led each couple in a vow renewal of their own!
And then it was time for our 'first' dance. We danced to “Remember When” from Alan Jackson and then the kids danced to “You Make It Easy” by Jason Aldean.
After the very emotional ceremony, our wonderful photographer Patt Nicol (Patt Nicol Photography) took photos as we toasted each other and each of the kids read a prepared speech and had us all in tears once again...
We ended the evening having a fabulous dinner at the famous Derby restaurant in Arcadia. It was the perfect finish to a perfect day...36 years in the making!

MOLLY’S 2018 MASCARADE WEDDING IN A THEATRE
Molly's dress was a red taffeta in a fit and flare style. It featured a black lace 1/2 circle fish tail and corsetted back tied with a wide sash to give us the big bow! The top of the gown and the hem were edged with the same black lace. So different and so Molly. |

ODY & MADISON KELLY were married at the Camarillo Ranch in Camarillo on 9/16/17. The beautiful venue featured a Victorian house which served as the Bridal dressing room.the The ceremony was held under a beautiful pine tree and was the perfect backdrop for both the couple and the guests to enjoy the gorgeous weather! The reception was held in the on sight red barn. It couldn't have been more perfect! Madison is the granddaughter of Designer Jeanette so we all know who designed her beautiful gown.
Madison's gown was ivory charmeus with a layer of lace and a mesh overlay. On the mesh was hand cut, hand appliqued beaded appliques in a cascading pattern on the front and back. The train was a half circle of lush charmeus, lace and mesh, the center back of the train was a double scallop lace with covered buttons from top to bottom. The scallop trim continued around the front and back of hem. We finished Madison's dress with a crystal belt and sash. The fit and flare, soft flowing gown was perfect for Madison's petite figure. Her veil was fingertip and edged with the same hand cut appliques as her gown. Perfection! One of the highlights of the ceremony was the bride being driven to the aisle by her dad in his 1969 Chevy Camaro! The roaring engine coming around the corner was so exciting! |

STORY BEHIND THE DRESS: Designer Jeanette Johnson designed this gown for a photo shoot. It was a duchess satin A-line gown with a drop waist bodice featuring a sweetheart neckline. The fully beaded bodice was finished with a scallop lace at the neckline as well as the edge of the skirt and train. The waist was accented with a tiny crystal trim. The photos were taken at Pasadena City Hall by Kristen Simental Photography.
A GREAT DRESS FOR A BEACH WEDDING

This was a dress that Designer Jeanette Johnson made for a photo shoot about 7 years ago.
It was a mocha satin with a dark ivory lace overlay. The train is a full circle and edged with a scallop lace trim. The original dress (photos included) had a brown iridescent wide obi sash.
This gown was sent to a consignment shop in Memphis, Tennessee and this bride bought it. I was very excited to have the photos she sent! It really one of my favorites

Anastasia"s theme for her wedding was Peacock and her love of purple. We found this amazing fabric at Fiesta Fabrics in LA. It was the the perfect color and theme! Her corset top fit like a glove and was edged top and bottom with the gorgeous gold fabric edge. The A-Line ball gown skirt was also edged with the gold and went up the back to complete the dramatic train! Anastasia was a vision!
